Programs
A major program of TSK is it's Community Outreach. Tau Sigma Kappa is actively
engaged in outreach efforts and members regularly appear at local colleges to
educate students and others about crossdressing and the transgendered community.
TSK has appeared at Front Range Community College , Colorado State University
and the University of Wyoming , as well as other organizations and groups that wish
to know more about this often misunderstood aspect of gender orientation. Our
members have also appeared at Naropa University , the University of Colorado and at
Boulder area high schools as representatives of a speaker's bureau that we're
associated with. We were especially proud to speak at the Matthew Sheppard
Symposium for Social Justice at the Univ. of Wyoming in Laramie on March 31 st ,
2005.
Our goal is to inform, interact and ultimately demonstrate that we are just another
interesting facet of the diversity of the human condition. We are real people and
constitute a much larger community of people than society realizes. Rest assured that
we are not “Jerry Springer people” and our informative, poignant and humorous
seminars are conducted by sophisticated and dignified individuals. I'm sure you'll
find yourself wishing there was more time to spend with us as our presentation
comes to a close.
Most of the presentations we've made have been before Sociology, Psychology and
Social Work classes. However, we are looking to expand our efforts to include the
medical and legal professions, educators and counselors, health care workers
(particularly therapists and psychologists), and members of the hospitality industry.
For that matter, we are eager to appear most anywhere and before any group that
desires information about us, either on an individual basis, a collaborative team
effort or as a panel. We do not charge for our services.
We are able to condense our presentation for a standard 50-minute class but, as you
can imagine, we prefer venues that give us the opportunity to inform and educate,
share our stories, as well as respond to questions. Members often speak of their own
individual journey of self-awareness and the discovery of being “different” and this
goes a long way towards developing a rapport with our audience and humanizing
who we are. We are easily able to fill a four-hour block of time, but will happy tailor
our presentation to fit your needs and specific requests.
